Coastal Diversion neat Napa/Sonoma

This September we are headed back to Napa/Sonoma (3rd year). I'd like to take a day and see the coast near wine country. My husband is really into craft beer, so if any recommendations include a beer stop, even better.

Not sure of any craft brew unless you head up to Mendocino which may be farther than you'd like - www.mendobrew.com, www.gomendo.com/showrecord.asp?id=173 I like both Jenner & Pt. Reyes areas which are easily accessible from Sonoma + there are also some wineries out that way that are very good.http://www.russianrivertravel.com/jenner.htm

I second Pt. Reyes area. And we had a wonderful lunch at Nick's Cove on the water.

Pt Reyes is great but so is the Sonoma Coast. The drive along Hwy 1 north of Bodega Bay is spectacular and there's a great variety of beaches here. Check the weather carefully before you decide on where to go. Quite often, Pt Reyes is besieged by biting winds and coastal fogs although September is usually one of the nicest months (along with October).

If you go to the Bodega area, there is a neat town not to be missed called Occidental. There you will find a tavern to satisfy your husband's thirst.
