Ephraim Motel

We travel to Door County every month from Chicago. For the past five years we have stayed at the Village Green Lodge in downtown Ephraim. It is a non-smoking, no children under 16, no pets allowed, quiet, adult oriented inn. It is a two story motel with charming, smallish, incredibly clean, country decorated rooms with a fireplace lodge room and a delicious full breakfast buffet served from 8-10 A.M.
It is located 1/2 block off the main drag (42) so it is very quiet at night. You can walk from the inn to the beach, and marina, and watch evening sunsets. Ephraim is a dry town so if you eat at the nearby restaurants remember it's tea and lemonade. Only three miles away in Sister Bay or Fish Creek is liquor readily available in the restaurants. In answer to your question, we have stayed at the Ephraim Motel, before it was remodeled this year. It was a basic motel that smelled strongly of bleach and we understood was used more by high school kids than tourists. It may be better now. After staying at nearly a dozen different inns and motels, the Vllage Green Lodge is the only place for us.

Beg to differ, there are some lousy places in Ephraim. Some have not been redecorated in twenty years, some are musty, some are sterile, and some are right on restaurants where you have little privacy. We made a last minute trip and had to check out a few before we found a suitable one.

Just a "ditto" on the Village Green. Not fancy, but very nice, very clean, and the room where you eat is SO comfy, cozy and relaxing. Breakfasts were delicious. I personally like a little more action, but if you're wanting quiet and relaxing, this is the place. Don't know about the Ephraim Motel.
