Embassy Suites

How far is the Embassy Suites in lower Manhattan from Times Square? And how convenient is the bus/subway between these two locales? I wanted to reserve a room at the double tree in TS but the price is just too high. For significantly less, i can reserve a suite in Embassy, but it means staying in lower manhattan. Also, what's near the Embassy? Is there things for kids to see/do nearby?

The hotel is a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry and the ferry to the Statue and Ellis Island .It is a walk to the subway that requires crossing a major roadway. Once on the subway it is about a 20 minute ride to
Times Square. The distance to Times
Square is at least 3 miles. There is a very nice playground within walking distance for very young children.

Don't know where you are getting your significantly low rate at Embassy Suites but someone on this board gave me a tip that it is on Hotwire for a really, really good price. We reserved it (identified by the red S for Suite in Lower Manhattan and unchecking all other areas) for a really, really good price. When you factor in a full breakfast for everyone it is unbeatable. I'll take the subway readily.

Thanks for your reply.

I'll be reserving the room through my company's TA who has a pretty good prenegotiated price with Embassy.

Besides the park, what other types of attraction and family entertainment are in the area?

Also, is there a bus route to TS from near the Embassy? I'm not too fond of the subway especially with little kids; my kids seem to like buses better since there are more things to see out the window.

Bus #20 will get you to TS. Although I would suspect it will take 10-15 minutes longer than a subway.
