Best of the Best

My wife and I will be in New York next weekend(5/14-5/16) to see a few plays and enjoy New York. However, I am at a loss to come up with a "great" restaurant suggestion for Saturday night. Could someone please give me a suggestion or two on what their favorite current restaurants would be? We would like great food as well as a great atmosphere. Thanks for any/all input.

L'Impero for Italian (near the UN). Or you might like to try one of the new places in the new Mandarin Oriental Hotel (35th floor of the Time Warner building) or in the building, below the hotel. I haven't been yet but the rest. off the lobby of the hotel got very good reviews. Dramatic view.

If you want something in the theater district, Firebird is quite dramatic.

There are dozens, possibly hundreds of NYC restaurants that would qualify. How about narrowing it down a bit:
1. How much do you want to spend?
2. What type(s) food?
3. What general location(s)?

Howard is right Bankerboy...give us some clues as to what types of restaurants you typically enjoy.

Also if you want the suggestions limited to the theatre district. Do you want dressed up, casual etc. There are many great places, but different strokes for different folks.

Help us help you...

Jezebel is one of my favorites in the Theatre district. http://www.jezebelny.com/

Del Friscos on 6th Avenue. Great food, atomosphere and location.

Grammercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe, Babbo and Gotham were all fantastic my last visit. Esta was soso. Nobu's okimase for lunch failed to wow me. Whatever you choose, if you can't get reservations get on standby and call them that morning for cancellations, the decor at Jean Gerge Steakhouse at the Time Warner looked wonderful when I snuck a peak during the day, or Masa across the way if you want to wow your wallet - dinner for 2 starts at $600 before drinks, tax and tip! What plays do you have tickets for
