all i can say is, long ago, (10 years to be exact), we stayed here on our honeymoon and it was absolutely wonderful!!! We love it and enjoyed ourselves completely. But, this was 10 years ago.

Is "we" a family or just two adults?

The Embassy is very family oriented ... so would be good for you if you have kids with you.

It is situated in North Kaanapali and when it is windy it is VERY windy.

We stayed right next door at the Maui Kai condo building. Had several afternoon appies and drinks at the outside patio at The Embassy. The staff were friendly and the food we had was fine.

Don't know if The Embassy has kitchens in the units but there is a Star Market 2 minutes away by foot where you can pick up breakfast stuff or even dinner if you have a kitchen.

My choice since staying at the Maui Kai in December 2004 would be to always stay in a condo from now on. Much less crowded feeling and more like home.

But, you will enjoy Maui pretty much wherever you stay.

I have always been a fan of Embassy Suites and wanted to stay there originally...checked it out visually when we stayed at both Kapalua and Wailea...it is tucked behind some condos and townhouses and not directly on Kanapaali beach as the other properties are..as well, at the time, the beach there was not suitable for swimming and it was narrow..any changes?

We've stayed at the Embassy on Mauai and, yes, it is directly on the beach. We really enjoyed it. It has a very nice pool, and it's conveniently located.

We were there (2 adults, 3 kids) in Feb '04 and had a wonderful time! It is off the "main drag" of Kaanapali and not walking distance to that area though. The room was fabulous - oversized and we never felt cramped. There was a lot of constuction noise when we were there, but we were out most of the days, so it really wasn't a problem. Lobby area is beautiful!
