Lakefront in Chicago is a large area. Do you have an address?

I just looked it up and if it is the Embassy Suites on North Columbus, it is downtown very close to North Michigan. Good location for shopping and dining.

It's a block north of the large Sheraton convention hotel which is on Water Street.
"Lakefront" is a very relative term as it's not really that close to the lake, and you can't even see the lake from the lower levels of the hotel.
It's about 4 years old.
It's a very functional place. Good location for acess to N Michigan Ave, but rooms seem darkish to me and the lighting in the building (atrium and such) was that irritating fluorescent light you often find in discount big box warehouse stores and Circuit City type places.
It would be fine for a business trip etc. I don't think I'd stay there for a romantic weekend in the city.

The Embassy Suites Lakefront was built in 2001 which is why it isn't in your book. It is about 1/2 mile to Navy Pier and the lakefront. It is a nice hotel if you are traveling with children. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Unless their is a substantial savings, I would choose the Embassy Suites on State. While the lakefront location in newer and more upscale, it has a sky lobby which i find annoying(you have to use two elevators to get from your room to the street). Also, there are free trolleys that run to Navy pier if you were concerned about getting there. But again if they rates are lower, it is a nice new hotel in a fine location.

Thx for your replies-----I got the room for $85 using Priceline, and didn't initially realize that there were TWO E.Suites near N.Mich. Ave. Glad to know that the hotel really exists since I couldn't find it on my maps! bri19sp, you responded to my tranportation question I think----and I'm guessing that I won't have TOO far to walk to get bus 19 to the United Ctr.
Thanks for all of the responses!
