I used to use my real address, then a spammer sent porno stuff under my screen name @aol.com. Most should have known that was fake, but I still had some probs with it. Now, I will put my address deep within the response if someone needs a trip report, etc. They haven't bothered me since. Also, some people may respond on this board using your Fodor' monikor.

I put up my ALMOST real e-mail address. I get too much spam about how to increase my bust size to want to continue to allow spammers to see my real address. People who want to send me a personal e-mail, however, can do so by removing the double letters in my almost address.

Carol, ask the veterans here to regale you with the details about Leone, the federal employee who spent his work days posting on Fodor's until one day someone posted his true name, exactly where he worked, and his boss' e-mail address so everyone could tell the boss what they thought about taxpayer-supported professional travel chatters.
Then let Grace and the other naive fools tell you that you're only "legitimate" if you use your real e-mail.

I have posted here for about a year using my own name and email and have received only 3 private requests for information. Each responded with a thank you after the trip. I have received only a few nasty responses on this board. Once, my question really was rather lame and the other times I just ignored the jerks. For some unknown reason I get little spam.
But since posting my real email address on a question like this seems like a taunt to be spammed, porned, and insulted, I'll skip it this time.

How's this for nasty:

Message: Joseph Cameron, aka Leone, a federal employee with the National Transportation and Safety Board, who has posted his work e-mail here in the past and apparently spends all day every day surfing Fodor's instead of earning his taxpayer financed paycheck. Looks like a disgruntled co-worker got tired of his slacking and posted his boss' e-mail so all of us taxpayers could tell [email protected] exactly what we think of his slacker employee, Joseph Cameron!
