East Coast Winter Wonderlands
Hello. I am from South Florida, the land of never-changing seasons. I am thinking about taking a Dec. 26- Jan. 1 trip to an East Coast winter wonderland. I am interested in snow hiking, snow shoeing, sledding, and maybe a little skiing. I have actually never skied before so I am looking for a place where there is that opportunity but other snow activities as well. Any suggestions other than Gatlinburg? Thanks much.

I live in Lake Placid and "they" are not skiing here yet. Where people, true2 ([email protected]), get this kind of information?

The ski resorts are full-up that week, not a great time for a beginner to hit the slopes.
New Hampshire puts out a great tourist magazine that I'm sure you can order online. Browse through it and pick a spot. Be aware however, that there have been many non-white Christmases up north in the past. You can buy yourself a non-refundable plane ticket, but nobody will guarantee you any snow-shoeing.
