Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena Ill
We have reservations here for this weekend for a Wine Tasting Weekend with 5 different wineries and over 50 wines! Looking forward to good food and good accomodations. I understand Galena has a lot of history, are there historical sites that you have enjoyed visiting? Grant's home?

I haven't actually toured Grant's house so can't comment there but I've spent a lot of time in Galena. (my family was among the original settlers in the area so I have a personal interest in Galena)
Main Street itself is pretty interesting, IMO. Victorian era shopfronts that have an interesting mix of shopping. The entire town is full of beautiful old houses. The really big ones are a couple of streets above Main Street (literally above, you'll see what I mean - they hover on the top of a "cliff").
You can also find remnants of a wall of the fort that used to be there, if I remember correctly.
Nearby, there is a mine that offers tours - I think it's the Vinegar Hill mine and it's just outide of town.
There are also trolley tours of the town that you might want to try.
You shouldn't have any problem picking up a few books about Galena's history while you are there.

I've stayed there a couple of times. We didn't stay in the lodge itself but had one of those condo things. It's a nice place, probably very nice if you're a golfer (I'm not). Generally, I'm not a resort person. I don't really care if there's a pool or golf course or that sort of thing. But it's quiet and clean and pretty.
About 10 minutes outside of Galena, I believe.
