Dumb, piddly questions for Maui

A couple of questions:

1. We're staying at Maui Eldorado-how far of a walk is it to the Sheraton? Can you just walk along the beach? Anyone tried Teppanyaki Dan's?
2. Would two 16 yr. old girls be safe on Kaanaplai beach if we weren't right there but had walkie talkies?
3. Should we buy some cheap beach chairs and a cooler for area beaches? On waikiki the price of chair/umbrella rental is unreal.
Best and cheapest place to buy this stuff?
4. Have pretty much decided not to shop at Costco even though we have a card. We will be eating breakfast and maybe a few lunches in the condo. None of us (two adults, two teens) and very big eaters and I just can't see buying bulk. Any other grocery stores near the airport? We have a safeway card and an albertsons.

Thanks a bunch!

There is a walmart near the airport with groceries as well as other stores. You couls also buy your beach gear at walmart and save a ton. We just bought the grass mats available at ABC stores. The girls should be fine on Kaanapali. Try UFO parasail on Kaanapali for a nice alternative view of the Island.
Aloha!

As panhandle said you'll pass costco, kmart, and walmart within five minutes of leaving airport.

Sheraton very close walk from Eldorado. There is a walkway along the entire beach in Kaanapali connecting all beachfront hotels. You'll have to walk down to that first. Eldorado is not on beach. Fastest way is cutting thru the golf course.

During the day, the girls will love watching the local boys boogie board or jump from the cliff out by the Sheraton. After dark, however, I'd keep them off this beach. Itcan be a popular hangout for underage drinking. The kids usually aren't a problem but they will probably invite your girls to join them for a drink!
Go Walmart in Kahului (not far from the airport). There's also a Safeway in Lahaina. Have fun.

One thing i found is to split lunch say sandwiches at a reataurant in whalers village or one of the beach side restaurants. Makes a nice break from the activities. The area you are staying in is active and a board walk runs most of the entire beach front. Yes you should buy some chairs and umbrellas if not supplied by eldorado. Ice chest , drinks, and snacks are a must, try the soft( fabric) kind of ice chest its easy to carry and light. nick
