driving from Mystic CT to NYC

What's the best route to take from Mystic CT into the Midtown Manhattan area of NY, arriving on a weekday morning around 10am? How much time should we allow to get into the city? Thanks!

95 to Cross Bronx Expressway (also 95) to George Washington Bridge. Get off the Cross Bronx at the last exit in Manhattan (181st ST.). Follow signs directing you DOWNTOWN. You will wind up on the Henry Hudson Parkway. Make a left onto 56th St. or any other place where a left is allowed until 42nd. Drive straight ahead once the left is made and you will be in the midtown area. Indicate exactly where you want to go in midtown and directions should follow

95 south to cross bronx to triboro brigde to fdr south...take any exit you like in midtown area...51st st exit spits you out at a good location on the east side. it will take about 2:45 -3:00 to get there. You will hit rush hour traffic in CT if you plan to arrive in the city at 10 am

Both sets of directions are correct. The question is: Do you want to be on the west (side first set of directions) or the east side (second set)? If you know the exact address of where you want to end, we can refine the directions.

Once we get in to NYC, we'll be dropping our car off in front of the hotel at 871 7th AVE (At 55th Street). Thanks for all the help!

That being the case, you'll want to follow rqf's directions. Exit at 56th Street, continue on to Seventh Avenue and take a right and it's one block from there.
