Driving from Ft Myers airport to Captiva Island

Fingers crossed that I will be able to fly in from DCA to RSW on Saturday morning. If so, I'm looking for a couple of stops on my way to the FLA rental. One would be any recommendations for lunch along the way and another would be for a Walmart or someplace to stock up on supplies. Hopefully that could be combined with the lunch stop.

Thanks!

We usually stop at Jerry's on Sanibel. Once over the causeway you turn onto Periwinkle Way and it's not too far from the causeway. 1700 Periwinkle Way. Along that stretch of road on the way to Captiva are a # of restaurants. Lazy Flamingo is nice an informal. Not sure if it comes up before or after the grocery store.

According to google maps, there's a Wal-Mart between the two with a Perkins and Bahama Breeze on the corners.

Not sure what supplies you're looking for, but if you're looking for a supermarket then search for Publix. That's the big chain in the area. I think there are a couple right before the causeway to the island.

Along the way you will be crossing RT 41, a major shopping route and closer to Sanibel/Captiva, you will drive right by Summerlin Square Shopping Plaza at San Carlos Boulevard... I would shop there and wait to eat until I got to Sanibel...

The Mucky Duck is located downtown Captiva so I imagine a grocery store would be nearby and we enjoyed having lunch there. http://www.muckyduck.com/
