Driving from Baltimore to Detroit
I am a fairly good driver but have never driven home to Detroit. This will be my first time. What is the easiest (less complicated) and preferably the quickest route. Note: I am afraid of heights so I do not want to have to deal with Pittsburgh's hills. If I can avoid it.
Thanks

I "commuted" between Detroit and Baltimore a few times and I preferred taking I-70 to I-68 through Cumberland and WV. Then I picked up I-79 to the PA Turnpike on the west side of Pittsburgh.
It was very scenic through Cumberland and I preferred it to dealing with the Turnpike through the mountains.

I-68 has steeper climbs than I-70; but the roadway is designed much better with gentler curves, wider shoulders. And more importantly, much less traffic, especially truck traffic. Makes it a much easier and comfortable drive than I-70.
You avoid part of the tolls on I-70/PATP, but you add about 40 miles going I-68.

I-68 gets VERY foggy sometimes, so that might be worrisome. I-70 is not bad around Pittsburgh, but between Pittsburgh and Breezewood (where you get off the turnpike to stay on I-70) there are about 10 miles where there are 10 ft off the road and then steep mountain sides. I-70 is an easier drive (and MUCH more direct.
