Yes there is reasonable parking in D.C. - just not in any of the sightseeing areas! You should plan to leave your car at the hotel (avg $15/day) and take Metro everywhere you want to go. Make sure your hotel is within a few blocks of a Metro station (ask)and you'll be fine.

Hotel parking is expensive, but go ahead and park your car there while in DC and use taxis or the metro to get around, especially during a busy weekday. Heading to Wmsbg, go I-95 south and north of Richmond get on I-295 (follow the signs to Virginia Beach) to I-64 East. Have fun!

Metro is relatively inexpensive (compared with parking). You can buy an all day pass after 9:30am for $5. The metro website is www.metroopensdoors.com

Hotels will occasionally offer parking specials' once, when e stayed at the Embassy Suites in Crystal City, they offered free parking for AAA members. So check around. But you definitely want to use the Metro or cabs to get around town.
