I have an old photo of my birth family and we all have matching pajamas. They (pjs) were our Christmas presents. My mother sewed and she could only get material cheap if she bought an entire roll. The print was red printed reindeer. No joke! I still have the picture.
We don't all come from homes where you might get store bought presents, even in the '50s.
You know I can't remember ever feeling that it was weird or we were deprived, and I was the oldest. But then again we all wore a uniform that was alike to school as well, & went to a school room where one teacher had 55 to 60 kids. We felt normal.
