Downtown Charlotte restaurants?

Going in 3 weeks with DD for Junior Olympics (fencing) Anybody have suggestions for yummy restaurants? We don't eat meat besides seafood, so don't want barbeque or steakhouses. Thanks! Anything else to see or do in downtown Charlotte? ....first time!

There are several restaurants Uptown (which is what we call downtown). Harry & Jeans is a local restaurant. There is a McCormick & Schmidts (seafood). Zink is good.

Not too much to see uptown/downtown. There is Discovery Place. But just not a lot to actually "see" in Charlotte.

I just did a search on Chowhound (which is MUCH more user friendly these days) for this exact same topic as I am going to Charlotteseville next weekend, staying at the Omni right downtown on the pedestrian mall. There are some very good posts on Chowhound on this. I am looking at "Orzo" for our dinner...

Arpa is a great tapas place as is Cosmos (Cosmos during the week only, they have 2 for 1's). LaVecchias (seafood), Luce for Italian & a short cab ride away in Elizabeth is The Fig (one of the best kept secrets in Charlotte).

If you are staying uptown and you like seafood - make sure you go to Levecchia's on 6th street.

Lulu's in Plaza Midwood and The Fig Tree in Elizabeth are just within a couple miles.

Be aware that Blue and the Fig Tree are very expensive - not sure what your budget is. Cosmos 2 for 1 is a great deal and it's a high-energy place full of young, interesting people (not sure how old your daughter is).

Coco Osteria is a great little Italian pasta place on Tryon St.

I also like Harry and Jeans.

OOOOPS! It's been one of those days. One of those weeks actually. Well, if anyone else misread it and is going to Charlottesville....

I once drove from D.C. to Winchester to pick up a piece of furniture. The only problem was, I went to Winchester, VA and it was in Winchester, MD!

sorry...
