I see them on the subway often. Did you search google or the MTA site?

I know that Amtrak does not allow animals on the train, only service animals and you need to comply w/ the service animal rules (I'm sure it's on their web site) - I don't know about public buses, but I'm sure you can check w/ whatever bus carrier you would use from your location.

Dogs aren't allowed on NYC subways or buses unless they are enclosed in a pet carrier:
From the MTA site:
"Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (2) of this subdivision, no person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container and carried in a manner which would not annoy other passengers.
Paragraph (1) of this subdivision does not apply to working dogs for law enforcement agencies, to service animals, or to animals which are being trained as service animals and are accompanying persons with disabilities, or to animals which are being trained as service animals by a professional trainer. All service animals and animals being trained as service animals must be harnessed or leashed."

I have a yellow lab who is now about 70 lbs. When he was smaller I brought him into work from my house in hoboken.

When in a carrier, he could ride anywhere - ferry, subway, bus (i put him by the driver upfront) and path.

Out of the carrier - no where. The exception to all of this however is if your dog is a "working dog".

Unfortunately if he can't fit in a carrier you have to drive in. I have to do it when we're without the dog walker fairly often and the most conveinent parking near my work is $41 for the day.

There are some garages around Times Square however that are half of that. You might want to look up parking/icon parking to see rates in the city.

Hope that helps.

Amtrak allows only certified service animals, as do long distance bus carriers. Commuter trains and buses are the same.

New York City subway and buses do not allow animals except service dogs. (You may see someone get away with a tiny port a dog hidden in a tote bag - but they are NOT allowed). Some cabs will allow animals (they will in cages) but most won't take large dogs.

Airlines will only put a large dog in the hold - which I would not do.

Really the only way to travel with a dog larger than about 10 lbs is by car.

Also - please note that even service animals have to stay in the space of their owner - they don;t get a seat or extra room.

Well, thanks. I found parking for $38 (we are going to be at Washington Park)
and we are must drive her in, right? She is too large to have her in carrier.
About 65Lb. She will be a starring in a music video. I can't wait!

Thanks to all for the info.
