I'm considering adjoining rooms for an upcoming family trip to New Orleans since I am having trouble finding a suite hotel that meets our needs. Do most hotels (even the smaller, non chain ones) have adjoining rooms avaialable? Just wondering if this is something I can assume as an option or if I really need to email/call each place individually before making a decision. Thanks!

Some do and some don't, so you would need to inquire at each.

Hi snowrooster, since you have little ones be sure to call any hotel you are interested in directly (don't go through the free toll call number that is a call center as often they really do not know that much about the individual hotels). You don't want to assume, you want to make sure you get reservations for adjoining rooms and stress that you mean adjoining rooms that have a door between the rooms, not just two rooms next to each other. I learned that the hard way once. Best wishes.

What you want are "connecting" rooms.Some do some dont.Most will tell you they are "on request".I always call the afternoon before I arrive and ask a Front Desk Clerk if there is any way the can block the rooms right then and there.I have never been turned down.If you wait until day of arrival well you are just taking a chance.

Don't know if you want to go high end, but both the Royal Orleans and Royal Sonesta have suites with sitting rooms and bedrooms. The Sonesta even has at least one with upstairs and down, the upstairs opening onto the pool deck.

You otherwise need connecting rooms and no "ifs, ands or buts" from the hotel as your kids are little (if I recall). If worse comes to worst, and we have done this, parents split up and one goes with each child.

If you mean adjoining - of course - every hotel has rooms that are next to other rooms. Whether they'll have them available when you check in - is the luck of the drawer.

If you mean connecting rooms (2 rooms with a door directly between them) - not not all hotels have them.

And the deal is the same. You can ask for them - but no guarantee they'll have them available when you check in.

Most larger convention-type hotels do - although they can't always guarantee they can provide adjoining rooms.

Most smaller hotels that I have been in do not.

Yes, connecting rooms is the proper term. And the one time we did not get it that is what we did, I slept in the room with my daughter as she was to young to be in an adjoining room by herself.
