Disneyland & Legoland???
Hi. We will be stopping at Disneyland on our way back from Hawaii in July. We have 2 children, ages 7 & 9. We have 3 full days to spend here. Currently we are planning on spending 2 at Disneyland and 1 at California Adventure (and stay at the Disneyland Hotel).
My son loves Legos... is it worth it to skip a day at Disney and drive to Legoland or are we better off spending the time as planned.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Tough call. If your son loves Legos he might really enjoy the park. But your kids are getting to the top of the age range that finds Legoland enjoyable. Most of the fans are 7 and under, since there aren't many rides and exhibits for older kids.
Plus do you want to have to drive down to Carlsbad just for one day? I'd spend the time in Anaheim and enjoy Disneyland and California Adventure.

There is a Lego store in Downtown Disney
where there are 6 foot statues built entirely out of lego, and all kinds of neat things to buy.
We just got back from Disney and San Diego with kids aged 8 and 10 and did not go to Legoland. We had so much else to do that the kids did not even miss it.

We went to Legoland 2 years ago during our 7-day stay at Disneyland. Our kids were 7 and 5 at the time. It's true there aren't many thrilling rides, but they truly enjoyed the experience. My husband and I felt it was the most unique experience in Southern California. The cities built from Legos is truly amazing. We'll go back again on our next California adventure.

We took a 3 yr old and 5 yr old to Legoland last November. For that age range it is fine, but I think your 9 year old, maybe even your 7 year old, will find it boring. Most rides are for like 6 & under. I doubt the 9 year old will appreciate the miniature cities built out of Legos. They are interesting, but you'll appreciate more than the kids.
If you want to venture outside Disney, I'd go the extra few miles past Carlsbad to Escondido and go to the Wild Animal Park. The whole family will really enjoy that. That place was awesome. My kids enjoyed that much more than Legoland.

I took my 8 & 6 year old boys there in Nov. and it was their favorite part of our trip to San Diego. We also went to the Wild Animal Park, Zoo, Seaworld, and Birch Aquarium. My kids like legos and had a great time at Legoland. I think it's worth it for 1 day at these ages.

I'm a nine year old boy, and I think Legoland would be nice. There are fun rides even for nine year olds. It has every Lego set you can think of in its gift shops, and Miniland is like a country that was shrunken. Their restaurants are the best, and I think it's cool. I went last month during Spring Break.
P.S. I'm a Legomaniac. I dictated this to my mom.

Just came back from Disneyland, its so big that if you will like to enjoy all of it, three days will be just right, therefore take the 3 day pass, I don't think they have two day passes. Another tip spend just half day at California Adventure since not much to see as compared to Disneyland. But if your son loves LEGO that's a different call.
