There is public bus service, but not without transfers
http://www.golynx.com
Mears http://www.mearstransportation.com/ has services between airport, hotels, and attractions.
If there are enough of you, it may be easiest for 1 person to take shuttle to get a car for the day.

I love this site you guys give such great advice. My hubby is excited to go to Islands of Adventure. He wants to ride the Marvel Superheroes rides(big comic fan). Finally getting him excited for our trip. He's not as big of a Disney fan as I am, so i figured I would comprimise. I cant wait!

Let me put my two cents in here, as I live in Orlando. DO NOT rely on the local buses (Lynx). Bus stops can be few and far between. BTW many hotels/motels have free bus services to all the major attractions (Disney, Universal and Sea World) Disney is about a 10 minute ride from Universal and its all highway.
