Dishwashing in Savannah

Can anyone tell me if there is a restaraunt in Savannah that makes patrons wash dishes after their meals or perhaps requires them to help serve food. My Mom heard of this from a friend and wants to take my Aunt (who is easily outraged) there during an upcoming trip to Hilton Head Island. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

The closest thing I can think of to this, and what your Mom may have heard, was Mrs Wilkes Boarding House where you had to take your dishes to the kitchen following your meal. Mrs Wilkes died this past October and when the restaurant closed for the month of January as it has done every year, her relatives hadn't decided if it would be reopened. Still haven't heard if it has. Anyone know?

I've always wanted to go there!

Here's a link I found to a recent story about Mrs. Wilkes place...they haven't quite got it reopened, but sounds like they plan to by the end of this month:

Thanks for the link Joan. It sounds promising! Hopefully they won't change things too much--no point in messing with success.

I was in Savannah a week ago and heard that they do not plan to re-open Mrs Wilkes and the building is currently on the market. Hi Olive!
