Discount watches in Manhattan?
I am thinking about buying myself a special present of a new watch. Can any of you shopping mavens give me a lead on a discounter who sells Hermes? (Not a fake watch, but the real thing at a price less than at Hermes store..) Thanks!

Trying once more..anyone have the name of someone on 47th Street? I am aware of a couple of places (not sure if they discount Hermes, though) but was hoping for a recommendation from someone who has actually purchased a watch at a discount...

Have you thought about going to Tourneau on Madison and looking at "previously owned" watches? They usually have a large selection of Rolex and Cartier watches. I don't know about Hermes, but you could go and have a look.
I was once at the Hermes in Nice, France when they were having a huge sale. They did have many jewelry items discounted. My good friend, Debbie, bought a gold ring that was 25% off.
Have you asked about watches going on sale at Hermes 57th St?

Zlaor, thanks for the information; I will check it out.
MM..I have thought about the pre-owned at Tourneau; I will check there but I have the watch picked out and chances of them having the same one are not so great.(I could always be persuaded to change my mind, though) I would have no shame about wearing a pre-owned and I like a lot of the old ones better than the new clunky stuff.
It is the Hermes Cape Cod Double Tour watch with the dark face and the band that wraps twice around the wrist. Do you know this watch and what do you think? It is not in the price league of watches like Patek and Rolex and all of those. (I also like Panerai but very $$$)

Yes, I know the Hermes watch you write about. I think it will be great for you if you want a leather band. I, myself, like a bracelet band because it is waterproof. And I do adore Hermes. I have a leather diary that I write appointments and other information in.
Tourneau has some really beautiful watches. I am always mesmerized when I walk by the windows.

Thanks, everyone, for the tips. Yes, MM, there is a whole wide world out there of fabulous watches! I love looking in those windows. I like the Hermes with the black crocodile double strap but am afraid to learn what the strap alone will cost! I thought about red leather for about a minute but black will always be good; I might get tired of the red..
