Dinner near Whaler on our first night?? Suggestions?

We will be arriving on Maui June 18th about 3:30 in the afternoon. By the time I get the car and drive to Kaanapali it will be close to 5 I'm guessing.... After 8 hours on the plane and another 1.5-2 hrs "getting there" I'd like some suggestions for dinner. My first thought is Hula Grill since we can walk to and from there and it seems to get at least decent to good reviews. It will be our anniversary that day...but fancy restaurants aren't a big deal to us. Suggestions or comments?

I like Leilani's - in the same shopping complex but IMO better!

Since you'll be sitting in a plane for a long time and then in a car maybe you want to stroll down to the Hyatt and have your anniversary dinner in Swan Court. It's pretty romantic.

We also had two oustanding meals at Va Bene at the Marriott. It has outdoor dining with an ocean view and yo can listen to the goings on at the luau next door. We thought it was very romantic but it was during Nov and it wasn't a crowded time in Maui. Perhaps with more people walking on the beach walk it might not be as intimate there.

Hula Grill is in a great location.......... you know where you are when you eat outside there, and their tropical drinks are delicious........... But the food was just okay. Maybe it depends on your menu choice, but I remember being a little underwhelmed at the food, just not anything special. You have a wonderful anniversary and trip, KTinTX, you'll be in the perfect place for it, wherever you eat and drink!
