Dining in Solvang/Buellton area?

My fiance and I are beginning our honeymoon in the Buellton/Solvang area for 2 nights. I would love any recommendations for good places for dinner. We have considered the Los Olivos Cafe or the Hitching Post II but we haven't been able to find many other good restaurants.

We're not looking for anything overly formal but a good wine list is always appreciated.

Don't forget to have a bowl of Anderson's split pea soup.

Hi Hug,

I haven't been there in years because I live in UT now. I used to go all the time and as far as I know, you already have the 2 best!

Enjoy, but make reservations if they take them!

I second the Pea Soup Anderson's advice. But then try a tip from Lonely Planet Road Trip book took us to Arne's Famous Aebleskivers - 1672 Copenhagen Drive in Solvang in July 2005 - FABULOUS!!!! Enjoy!

Don't miss aebleskiver - available all over Solvang. (BTW, our Danish neighbor told us that the plural form is aebleskiver -- a single is just an aebleskiv!) Also, I can recommend Mattei's Tavern nearby.

Both of your choices are excellent, as is Mattei's (Brothers). The restaurant at Alisal Ranch in Solvang is good (chicken tortilla soup). I'm not sure how late they stay open, have only had lunch there. Across in Buellton, Ellen's Pancake House is casual and homey (well, divey) but the food is pretty good for a diner.

PS, If you are there on a Friday or Saturday, be sure to make a reservation.

I love Los Olivos Cafe and would also recommend the restaurant across the street in Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn. The restaurant at the Ballard Inn is delicious and the setting romantic as well. I also recommend Brother's restaurant. I have reservations for this Sat. night. I'll post back and let you know how it was
