Dine on the beach

Recently, while exploring one of the cool barrier islands on the West Coast of Florida, we stumbled upon Anna Maria Island. Only about 7 miles long you can literally see water on both sides at some points. Getting hungry, we did a street shout out and asked a couple of locals where the best place to go was. They told us the Sandbar or Beachhouse restaurants would fit the bill. We chose the Beachhouse since it was closest and I was ready to start knawing on the steering wheel. We loved what we found. When they say right on the beach they mean it. Our table was literally in the sand right in front of the Gulf of Mexico beach. Going with the tropical theme we ordered what I call foo-foo drinks. It was the best Pina Colada I've ever had. Maybe it was the extra liquour floater on top and the cute umbrella. The food was even better. We had fresh grouper sandwiches and some great calimari that was not chewy but delicious, which is hard to find. Our server was laid back but efficient and fun. I think you kind of get in that laid back mode living out here. Nothing moves really fast which is a nice break from our regular hustle and bustle vacations.
If any of you come to Anna Maria you should definitely check out the Beachhouse for the perfect meal in the perfect place.

Caryn Hodge of the Chiles Group, owners of the Sandbar Restaurant in Anna Maria, the BeachHouse in Bradenton Beach and the Mar Vista on Longboat Key, said there were a “lot of Europeans at the Sandbar and especially Germans at the BeachHouse” to listen to live jazz during August. In addition, there was a lot of walk-in traffic from local residents who came specifically to hear the music.

Wow- caryhodge-

Are you the least bit embarrased by posting a fake, self-promotion of your restaurant.

It must be a real cockroach-ridden dive to have to stoop to fraud and deceipt to attempt to lure customers in.

It's always suspicious when you see a glowing review for a restaurant, etc. and it's the only post the OP has ever made.....

Wow...so busted. That said, I really love the Sandbar and try to make it there each time we are in town. We missed this time, too busy to drive down. There, too, with their new expansion, you can eat right on the beach. I don't know about Beachhouse, but the Sandbar doesn't need any self promotion!!
