P.S.: Starrsville, I love that you bought the PT Cruiser because it makes you smile! I swear, I really do smile every time I see one, and I'd love a candy-apple red one, please, Santa!

I've got a RAV4 and bought it from the SECOND Toyota dealership that I went to. The first one had a rude disinterested salesman (or maybe he was too sure that I'd buy one....well, he was right, just not from him!).

No plans to ever replace it .... just vacation plans using up the $$$$.

Bonnie, I think the PT convertibles are the cutest things on the road. Wouldn't you look awesome in a red PT convertible?!

BayouGal, I keep telling my DH how awesome I'd look in a PT Cruiser; I think his hearing has gotten worse!

I'll contribute my 2 cents on the little SUVs. The Rav4's, CRVs & Subarus we found to be a tad small. In addition, the Subarus come very 'basic' so by the time you add in options, they are actually more pricey than the others. We opted for a Mazda Tribute, 6-cyl. We make lots of trips into the Mts. & home to Ohio so a 4-cyl. won't get it done. (This was in 2002) If we were doing it now, we'd go with the Escape Hybrid (same vehicle, made by Ford).

Let me also mention this is my wifes' wants/desires, I abhor driving SUVs unless I have too...slows me down a bit, if you know what I mean.

SAnParis, we rented an Escape Hybrid in CA, and we LOVED it. I think I'd enjoy owning one, but like you, it's tough to give up those sports cars!

What do I drive now?

Oh, a Honda Civic.

The Escape & Tribute are built on a Taurus Frame so they aren't as bad as some SUVs. However, I prefer handling to most other things, so I'll stick to cars...

My wife gave up a lifetime of Pontiac Firebirds to go to the SUV (due to kids of course). I'll just keep my '98 (paid for) C-Class Mercedes. I despise making car payments...cuts into my travel, don't you know...
