What a courageous individual! I have great respect for him; ever since I watched his "American Bandstand" in the 50's and 60's,and since then, he's accomplished so much more!!! Bless you, Dick!

I sat here with tears in my eyes watching him. What a great attitude he has.
I grew up watching Bandstand. He was great then and has grown even greater.
You are right. He is a class act!

Darn, I missed him!! Maybe they'll show a clip later.

But even without seeing it I agree, he is indeed a class act.

From Fodor's Rules of Conduct:

Fodors.com created Travel Talk as a place for participants to get and share advice about travel. To provide maximum benefit for travelers -- and to ensure that text and subject searches contain useful trip-planning information -- we restrict the discussion to travel. There are numerous venues all over the Web for conversations about politics, world history, and religion, or for parodies and salacious humor. The focus here is travel.

Why do lonely, pathetic people disrespect this forum?

I think perhaps Gekko is lonely and pathetic....just my humble opinion.

I have been watching the Emmy's in between getting ready for a trip to the Ozarks for business - missed Dick Clark.

As if I haven't cried enough this weekend, then they go and do the tribute to Aaron Spelling. Touching, very touching.

If Gekko had posed his question this way: Why do lonely, pathetic people disrespect this forum? what would be your replies? I have no idea who is or is not lonely or pathetic here but I do wonder why every time this type of legitimate question gets tossed out the only rebuttal is some form of avoidance, rationalization or denial. So why is it certain persons are exempt from the rules?

ps - Besides this not being a valid topic for this board, generally I find it very bad netiquette to discuss an event which has not yet aired in other time zones, (airs about 45 minutes from now where I live) unless a "SPOILER" is inserted into the header.

And I missed this as I took a long walk with a friend and than we met with some other friends to have wine on my deck. I MUST learn to take a look at the TVGuide website. American Bandstand, how so many of us remember that!! A true classic.

Perhaps a repost on the Cruise Forum in honor of Love Boat. That should quiet the critics (yea, right.)

Here's a travel related question: when does HBO's Elizabeth (getting an award right now) come out on DVD? I thought it was this week.

bluestar- it may be valid, but when a poster is rude and insulting to intelligent and thoughtful posters it really gets my dander up.

I never understand why they bother to open such threads if it SO irritating to them.

Ugghh. Anyway - Have a great week everyone.

the important question is what kind of "lonely and pathetic" person would go to a website and click on a topic he isn't interested in only to go to the trouble of looking up, copying, and pasting rules of conduct and then insulting others?

talk about lonely and pathetic!

Bluestar, I love your screen name. Is there any special significance to it? I thought of the ointment, but I have had skin allergies so I guess that's why it popped in my head. I am always impressed when someone has an unusual and original screen name. Good job!
