I know the condo complex and it's pretty nice. What I don't understand is how they can rent them "short term" without breaking the law. (Rentals of under 30 days are illegal unless an establishment is licensed to offer such rentals). You may call and ask about this!
Did you call any B&Bs, small inns or hotels? www.bbnola.com, www.marigny.com and www.louisianatravel.com are good resources for B&Bs.

These condos would be good location for Mardi Gras, JazzFest or just visiting the Quarter, however I agree with JohnNewOrleans, short term rentals in the Quarter are illegal unless licensed for that and I really doubt the DH Holmes condos are. This is not to say that it it's not done, it's done all the time, but just beware you takes your chances.

Renting less than 30 days is ILLEGAL in the French Quarter, therefore I would not advise you to stay at DH Holmes. These are luxury condos. It sounds like someone is trying to make a fast buck buy renting out unsold units to unsuspecting tourists.... and maybe attmepting to sales-pitch oyu once yu arrive. RUN!!!
I would suggest you try a place like the Grenoble House, which will better suit your needs. Their website is www.grenoblehouse.com
