Detroit to LA

I understand that airfare has many variables, but I just need to know what an average summertime fare was this year (2018) for July (high travel season). We have a wedding next July in Santa Barbara and I'm wondering ABOUT what the airfare cost will be. I was dreaming of Italy but this CA trip is for a wedding that cannot be missed. I just looked at Delta for next July from Detroit and now (1 year out, too early to buy I know) economy was $550ish per person. Is this about what I should expect for next year (baring any major changes in the market). Thank you for any help that you can give.

Do check the fares this year with Southwest and/or JetBlue that do not often show up on the sites like travelocity, kayak etc.

Just checking the Southwest low fare calendar, given there isn't much of August left, there are still possible choices for $360 or so RT. They haven't opened up next summer yet, but if you just put the low fare calendar on your book marks you can check back frequently and look when they open up the time you want to fly.
