Destination Guide & Hotels - Suggestion to Editors
Now with the new forums, you need to go back to the other material on this website, which is in serious need of an update. It also needs our help in keeping it up to date. By way of explanation, last weekend I flew up to Oakland from LAX and stayed the night in Berkeley. At my old haunt, the Durant Hotel. Which is listed here as the Durant Hotel, with a link to that website. And a statement it's "undergoing renovations".
All that information is wrong. The renovations have been completed. The name of the hotel has now changed. It is now a Graduate Hotel, and part of that chain. There is now long needed air conditioning in the hotel rooms.
Also, there is no ability to post reviews, like there was before. This is actually an interesting comment, because a few years ago we were able to review a hotel, but it no longer posted. And, frankly, I really enjoyed the prior ability to critique hotels (and restaurants, etc.) on the website, because I also enjoyed reading Fodorite reviews of hotels and restaurants.
Further, on the link at the top of the website to hotels, there are no sublinks except to a few "popular" designations. If you do a "search" in the box, you come up with all sorts of google type searches, rather than a Fodors' search. One should be able to type in "Berkeley" and come up with a list of all of the hotels in Berkeley that have been listed and critiqued by Fodors staff.
