Destin FL Area

We are six sisters looking to get together for 3 or 4 days the last week in March. We would prefer a beach getaway and have heard great things about Destin. Any thoughts on weather the end of March and also any thoughts in a beachfront rental with a pool to accommodate all of us? Thanks so much.

March can be cool in the Panhandle area, and the Gulf is definitely cold. I've spent many weeks in that area in March, and the weather is definitely a risk. To be sure of warm weather, you should go further down the state, like to the beaches around St. Pete for example.

Gekko is right. March can be iffy. Average daytime high in Mar. is 69 and in April it is 76.

Weather aside, it is highly unlikely you will find a condo rental for less than a week during "spring break season". There are a few hotels but the vast majority of rental units in Destin are condos, which I assume you want anyway with that many people. You might want to look at VRBO as individual owners are more likely to be flexible.

Gekko and Sunshinesue are absolutely correct on all counts. Even late April is iffy for weather in Destin. I spent a long weekend near Destin at the end of April. The first two days were warm and breezy. The third day was cloudy, cool and very windy. It was impossible to be on the beach or by the pool without being miserable, even though the temperatures were in the low 60's. The last day was cold and raining. Spring Break in northwest Florida begins at the end of February and lasts until the end of March or Easter weekend, whichever comes later.

I'll be in Destin for 8 days in August. Plan to spend most of my time on the beach but would love some suggestions for restaurants, piano bars, and other fun, romantic places for couple to go.

Just ate at the Backporch Restaurant in Destin this past weekend. Restaurant is informal, right on the beach and has great food.

RESTAURANTS in Destin area to try:
BORAGO's (which is short drive away...on Hwy 30A...ask for directions...it's easy. PLEASE do make the drive down 30-A...very special.
In Destin, try VINTIJ WINE BAR/Restaurant, also CUVEE BEACH. These are all really good restaurants....for more casual, and still good...HARBOR DOCKS which in on the Harbor. There is a piano bar over at Baytowne Warf area in Sandestin...although we don't spend much time over there....we're not normally the resort types...also, a lot of people like OCEAN CLUB for food and entertainment/dancing....again, not our thing but a lot of people do like it.
If you want a fantastic grilled grouper sandwich, and you are in the Seagrove area (30-A) around lunchtime, try the Seagrove Market (which is on 395, barely off 30-A)...the Market is old landmark and will come down in the fall to make way for new luxury hotel, condos, spa development....they are open for dinner too....very very laid back and casual...you might want to go early or late after the rush...this Market is just about 1/2 mile from Seaside, by the way. think they are closed on Sunday. You might want to try
the RED BAR in Grayton....just down 30-A also....it is famous spot that is old old old....decent food, good prices...and on Sunday afternoons you get live entertainment....and on some nights as well....it is a very unique spot!! There is a small, tiny tiny restaurant also on 30-A called CAFE TANGO...it is excellent and charming!!!
romantic too....so that will hopefully be helpful!! ENJOY PARADISE!!

Wow! Thanks so much for the info! I'm printing the email and will let you know how it goes. Can't wait to hit the beach. It's been years since I've been to Destin and while I love our beaches here in Carolina, the white sand and water in Destin can't be beat. Thanks again!
