Weather in Tamp in Early March

We are planning a trip to Tamp in early March. My husband golf's, but I like to lay by the pool. Is this possible at this time of year, or am I going to be sitting in my room most of the days while my husband golfs?

Tampa, I assume you mean? It can be beautiful and in the 70's and 80's or it can be very very cool, and it's anyone's guess as to which. We had a beautiful warm winter this year, with highs in the 70's and low 80's most days, then the first week of March was the coldest, harshest we had had all winter long. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Generally the earliest I'll swim is the first or 2nd week of April when the Gulf water termps hit 80, but I've seen people in in January and February--all depends on what you've been used to before.

The long and short of it is, the weather can go either way, but if you are arriving from Minnesota or the like, chances are you'll find it pretty darned nice. Good chance for sitting by the pool in no more than a bathing suit...but bring that sweatshirt just in case. Rarely would it be "sit in your room" cold, though.

March is goofy weather time in Tampa. I have lived in Tampa for over 20 yrs and March can be hard to predict. Generally though, it will be warm enough to sit by the pool and probably go in - most pools are heated but the gulf will be pretty cool maybe cold to go in but as the previous poster mentioned, if you are from Minn. you will have no problems.

Thank You for the replies. I did mean Tampa. Sorry. I am from Boston where March is horendous. It's that time of year where you just have had enough of winter and spring just seems to far away.

I used to live in tampa and the weather can be unpredictable then but if you are coming from anywhere north of tampa it will still probably be warmer than where you are coming from. you can almost count on golfable weather (65-85). the floridians consider 65 cold and walk around in parkas but we northerners wear shorts and swim and golf in that weather.

Hi Kath. If you haven't (or even if you have) booked a hotel yet in Tampa I would suggest the Best Western All Suite Hotel behind Busch Gardens. They have all suites. a pool and a great tiki bar / grill. Check out their website at www.thatparrotplace.com
