Denver or Seattle

If you were given a choice of a trip to go on. Which of these 2 cities would you choose. I hear that both places are nice. Perhaps someone here has been to both and can elaborate on their experience there.

Where are you from, where have you been, what do you like to do? Will you have a rental car, how long will you have for your trip? That impact suggestions.

Although we have lived in SW Colorado for the past 2 years, I have spent little time in Denver.

We went to Seattle in August 2005 and it was excellent. Also went to Vancouver BC on that trip.

For big city with a bus, Seattle might be it.

We did not rent a car while there - we stayed near Pike Market and either took bus or walked everywhere.

Weather can be a factor, summers are especially nice. The weather was ideal in mid August.

Lots of different kinds of things to see and do in Seattle.

One great thing about Seattle's bus system... it is seldom unbearable to stand outside and wait for the bus, which is not always the case in most U.S. cities given summer and winter extremes.

The other day at 5:00am Seattle was warmer than was any listed spot in Florida!

All in all I think Seattle has a greater range of scenery and activities for you to enjoy.

Another vote for Seattle. The best thing about Denver (and I live here) is it's proximity to the mountains. As you don't plan to leave the city you're visiting, go to Seattle!

I'm a sunshine kind of guy. Thus, having visited Seattle and lived in Denver, I wouldn't even consider Seattle over Denver. The sun shines year-round in Denver and, trust me, it's very, very good for the soul.

I believe that Denver has as much as Seattle aesthically, artistically, theatrically, athletically and academically. Yet, the 300+ days of sunshine (we've spent the last few days in short sleeves) has to give Denver the edge.

What month you are traveling (re weather difference) is a huge factor in making the choice.

btw, Seattle is a fairly small and low-key for a "big city".

possibly sometime like October or November. I would prefer to go when the rainy season is not around and also try to checkout Portland, Oregon.

The rainy season begins in mid October and is definitely around in November. That said, there are occasional clear days, or days with some sun breaks during those months.

It will likely be raining in October and November at least some of the time in both Seattle and Portland.

Also it gets dark extremely early (because we are so far north) after day light savings time comes into effect. 4:15pm on the shortest days! Flipside is in the summer when it is gorgeous, clear, sunny, and stays light until almost 10:00pm.

Long story short, as a long-time Seattle resident I do not recommend Seattle for what you seek in those two months of the year.

I've had to go to Denver a couple of times for work and find it a weird and soulless place (no offence, Denverites). Seattle is a real, vibrant, beautiful city, even if it's raining.

Sorry, yanksrule...unless you are lucky, or it's Auguest, it most likely will rain here...just endured a torrential downpour, but that's what keeps our city green, but we'd love to see ya....come anytime....November is usually pretty wet.
