Denver Hotels

Will be in Denver for over a week in April. Any downtown hotel suggestions (besides the Brown Palace, which I know is highly recommended). Will be attending a convention. Any thoughts on Hotel Monaco and the Westin Tabor Center, too.

Both the Westin and Hotel Monaco are very nice hotels. I prefer the location of the Westin Tabor Center though. The Westin has more of a "conventions/business" feeling than the Hotel Monaco. The Hotel Monaco is a nice "relaxing" hotel. I've had excellent service each time I've stayed at both of these places.

JoAnne,
I've been hearing great things about the Oxford but haven't stayed there (yet) myself. Maybe someone else can fill us in. The Westin is nice and rooms are large. Don't know anything about Hotel Monaco. The Marriott downtown is your basic Marriott, which isn't bad, just nothing out of the ordinary.

The Oxford is a treat--son spent his wedding night there and daughter and husband "treated" themselves to an intown "vacation" there. Go to the Cruise Room in the lobby--neat art deco bar with the best martinis.
However the other hotels are also nice.

Yes the Oxford is wonderful. also for more modest price try the LoDo Inn. Hotel Monaco is nice too cannot go wrong with any of them.

I re-read your post and if money is of any concern (for a week long stay) the Comfort Inn is across the street from the Brown Palace. When our son was married in Denver several years ago we arranged for guests to stay there. The rooms are very small but it is serviceable and free breakfast offered.

Westin Tabor was lovely....I just went for a business trip and the rooms were great, the service was helpful (I checked in after a red-eye flight, quite harried, and the front desk staff decided I NEEDED an upgrade!).

Can't beat the "Heavenly" line of bedding and toiletries that Westin offers either. Good location--close to many many restaurants and shops.

Hope it helps.
