Decent Hotel Along 44 in Oklahoma City?
Hello!
We are going to be traveling along 44 and are going to have to get a hotel for the night on our way to AZ. Can anyone advise me on a decent hotel, reasonable, clean and safe area that we can rest for 1 night.
I appreciate it!
Thanks!

as a former resident of okc, i can tell you stay far away from I-44 and may ave,,lets just say..not a good part of town.
honestly..since you heading towards az anyways..once you come to where I-44 and I-40 meet..take I-40 west for about 2 miles,.and youll come to meridian ave..take this exit..and there are scores of hotels up and down on meridian avenue..cheap hotels,.nice hotels..if you want to know,.just let me know,.and i can tell you pretty much everything thats there..but there is a holiday inn expres, red roof, best western, ramada..etc
theres also a lot of good eating places,..dennys, boomerang, on the border mexican grill,.and my fav place..a great chinese place called Jin Wei..which you should see right as you exit off of meridian ave.
along I-44 theres not too many nice hotels along that area..to be honest with you...take my advice, and go with I-40 and meridian.

also, there are even more eating places just one block west of i-40 and meridian at i-40 and macarthur avenue...theres even a walmart there, in case you run out of soap or q-tips, or whatever
theres a golden corral buffet at that intersection, applebees, a great grill buffet place called fire mountain,.and a host of other great eating places.
if you want night life,..there are some clubs south of i-40 on meridian,.just a few blocks,.and a gentlemans club called "night trips"..thats on reno ave, and meridian..about a block east.

Bricktown in Oklahoma City which is located off of I-40 just east of the I-35/I-40 junction has a couple of less expensive options for you. Courtyard by Marriott 405.232.2290 and Residence Inn by Marriott 405.601.1700. This area will also have many restaurants that are walking distance that are casual for a quick and inexpensive dinner. Easy access on and off of I-40.
If you want to skip that I would continue on to El Reno which is west of OKC. Very easy on and off the highway and clean, comfortable accomodations to choose from with fast food and gas stations nearby as well.
Comfort Inn 405. 262. 3050 www.choicehotels.com
Days Inn 405.262.8720

Motel 6 405.262.6062

My recommendation would be Bricktown if you are able to get into town in time for dinner before going to your motel. If you just want to stop for a place to sleep I would continue west of OKC to El Reno. You will skip work traffic and also the construction just west of downtown around Meridian and I-40 which is a mess.
Hope that helps.

beachgirl made a good suggestion, only that..when youre on I-44,.youll either need to go south on I-35 once you come to it (which junctions close to edmond), or you will need to head back about 5 miles east on I-40 if you continue to the I-40/I-44 junction. if you do the latter, you will need to exit off on Lincoln Blvd and head north to Reno and then go west about a block to see the hotel she mentioned. if you do the former junction, you will be traveling south on I-35 for quite a ways, and then you will want to take I-40/Amarillo westbound, for about 1 mile, then go north on I235, and it will be the first exit you will see (Sheridan) on I-235.
Of course, you can also stay on I-44, and just take the I-235 exit, and head south til you see the exit for Bricktown.
