Dec 25, LAX-Anaheim-Studio City, Traffic?
Hiya all! Thinking of going to S. Harbor St. (Disneyland street) departing from LAX at ~ 5pm Xmas day; want to check-out some Hotels before booking for our Disney days 1/10-12.
Would traffic to and on S. Harbor be murder around 6pm Xmas day? And, drive to Studio City around that time also?
Gracias!

Like tcapp says, traffic should be lighter. We used to travel from near there (about 10 miles east of Disneyland) to Ventura, north of Studio City every holiday to visit relatives. On a good day it'd take an hour and a half. If there was an accident, it could up over 2 hours. I'd figure on an hour and fifteen to an hour and a half if I were you.

BW Courtesy Inn is a little dive of a budget motel but clean and a short walk to the park. Holiday Inn on Walnut is nicer, but a longer walk. Candy Cane Inn and Jolly Roger are okay budget choices too...not sure what kind of special rates you might find but weekdays should be low.

Gpaul - Did you ever decide on a hotel in Hollywood for your visit to Universal Studios? Never saw a reply on your other threads. Are you now thinking of driving from LAX to Anaheim to check out some hotels and then later that night driving to Hollywood? Not meaning to be rude, but that would really be a lot of driving and waste of time, several hours at least.
Between this board and tripadvisor, you should be able to pick out a hotel near Disneyland without visiting the area first. I think your plan of heading towards LA, seeing some lights at Griffith Park and checking out the area around Hollywood and Highland is a much better idea. There really isn't anything to see between LAX and Anaheim and Harbor is a rather unattractive street with hotels, etc.
You will have plenty of time to see Downtown Disney, etc when you are in the area in January.
Let us know what you decided about Hollywood. Enjoy your trip.

paula1470, not rude, au contraire! Thank you!
Okay, just booked Desert Inn for Disney, got that out of the way.
Now pondering Days inn 7020 Sunset or Days Inn 5410 Hollywood Blvd. Seems the former is better, especially location. Any thoughts?

I think I mentioned on your other thread. Definitely stay at the Days Inn on Sunset Blvd. The one on Hollywood Blvd is not in the greatest location and reviews on trip advisor are not great. If you can't get a room at the Days Inn on Sunset, also look at the Holiday Inn Express. Look at your other thread, I think I gave you some information there.

That Days Inn is newly renovated, and you can walk to IN AND OUT BURGER, a California institution. You can also walk up to Hollywood Blvd and take the train up to Universal which is easier than driving in my opinion and probably @$3 per person for an all day metro pass, cheaper than parking up there.
