The best way is to ignore posts that you don't want to read. If not, first find out why they are topped then read posts you are interested in. How hard is it to skip them? Don't get blue about it. It is not your private board. You don't read all posts here, do you stella? So just ignore hundreds of them. Have a great trip to Big Bend.

However, it is tempting to read posts about appealing topics--of which Death Valley is one for me.
What I find annoying are the posts that become like deadend arguments over evolution, the death penalty, or a woman's right to choose.
For example:
Q: Should I do X or Y?
A1: Y
A2: No way, X.
A3: Is A2 crazy? Y
A4: No A2 is right. X
A2: I am not crazy. X
A3: I didn't mean you are crazy like insane, I meant crazy to suggest Y. X
Etc.

As long as posts are travel related in some form I don't see the harm. That is what this site is about and fortunately there are a lot of people on this site who like to share experiences and help others make their trip as successful as possible.
The posts that get me are the ones like: "My best friend's brother's girlfriend's sister's husband bought a new car yesterday and I just wanted to tell all of you about it."
Good luck to all you lucky folks out there planning a trip to Death Valley or anywhere else! I hope you research til your heart's content!

Seriously though, I don't get the "troll" thing in this context. Yes, there were a lot of Death Valley threads in the top 50 at one time the other day. But it was because someone was doing research for a trip and another kind Fodorite pulled up some threads for him/her.

I always heard that trolls live under bridges, and I wouldn't think Death Valley has enough bridges to support a large troll population. And shouldn't these troll homes be called "Troll Bridges?" Do they make Troll House cookies?
