Death Valley CA lodging
We are spending one night in Death Valley en route to Las Vegas in late November. We only see the Furnace Creek hotel / Inn or the Stovepipe Wells resort. Does anyone have any experience with either?

The Furnace Creek Inn is very good and open only in the fall/winter/spring, is expensive. I think there is a 2-night minimum at the Inn. The Furnace Creek Ranch is a typical motel-type adjacent to the stores, restaurants, etc at Furnace Week.
Have never stayed a Stovepipe Well, but driven by many time and it looks to be a very basic motel.
There are more choices if you drive on into Parhump after spending the day in DVNP.

We have stayed at Stovepipe Wells and Furnace Creek Resort, and we definitely prefer Furnace Creek Resort. The rooms, location, and dining options are better at FCR. We try to stay there at every year or two. Enjoy.
The starry skies at night are amazing.

There is also a motel at Panamint Springs, on the west side of the park. It is listed in the park service web site, www.nps.gov then search Death Valley then lodging for a link to all the lodging options.

Panamint Springs is old and quaint and a slice of old desert life. It is worth a stop for a beer and the views. But Furnace Creek Ranch is a nice oasis and most likely will provide a more comfortable setting. The grounds are large and lovely. The Furnace Creek Inn is a bit more upscale and worth a stop for a drink and a tour.
