Hello from Canada.
I'm planning 3 days at this hotel with my wife. Is the hotel ok?

I can't speficaly comment on the hotel but the area is north of the downtown and far from the major attractions. If this is your first visit I would reccomend staying in the downtown area. If you are looking for moderate priced accomadations in the downtown area Comfort Inn, Red Roof Inn, and Fairfield Inn have good locations.

Is it the Days Inn on Clark? This is a great location, right across from the Lincoln Park/North Avenue Beach, couple blocks from Second City comedy club, good restaurants, etc. $3 cab ride to downtown, not a big deal at all! Since I live here, have never stayed at the hotel...not the best looking hotel, but it must have some great views! Hopefully you won't be spending too much time in your room anyway!
Let us know if you need any other info, like restaurants, etc!

You can actually walk to downtown, about 15 minutes, and you will see the beautiful homes of the Gold Coast.

I also can't comment specifically on the hotel (the website for the hotel makes it look nice, says it's newly renovated) but the area is safe and closer than the downtown hotels to places like Wrigley Field and the Lincoln Park Zoo in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants.

If you are planning on spending your time at museums, shopping on Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier, etc. this would not be the best location but it is accessible by public transportation (bus)and would take you 20-25 minutes to get into the city.

Hiya,
I agree with kristi, if this is the days inn on clark, its a great location ( safe)..Second city is about 2 blocks , a great stir fry place called flat top grill is also around the area...As for transportation, you have the # 22 Clark bus, or if you dont mind walking..you can head to the Brown line El stop at Sedgewick and get some great views of the city..

hope this helps..

Actually this is the Days Inn on Diversey. Still a great neighborhood location but a bit N of the Days Inn Gold Coast on Clark near 2nd City. You can easily catch the brownline downtown and walk over to the lake and Lincoln Park Zoo. You can also zip right to Michigan Ave on the 151 bus about 3 blks from the hotel. Clean rooms, nice and affordable.
