Day trip to Key West on Cruise

Hi Everyone:
I am taking a short cruise in November and one of our stops is in Key West. I have never been and would like some daytime "must do's" for Key West. Open for anything. Just looking for your absolute favorite thing to do there.

Thanks so much.

We liked the Conch Train, Truman's Little White House, and the Shipwreck Historeum Museum.

We were there last month and the highlight of the trip (which I did not expect it to be) was the tour of the Hemingway House. I don't even like Hemingway's writing, but the house with its many polydactyl cats was fascinating. Be sure to take a guided tour and then you can wander around the house on your own afterwards for a closer look at some of the things mentioned (or not mentioned) on the tour.

We loved just getting out and about, walking around Duvall St and into littl side streets to see the interesting architecture. renting bikes would get you around a bit quicker. The customs house art museum was fairly interesting but not a must see.

The Truman White House is a must because it shows how simply the most powerful man in the country lived in the days before the Imperial Presidency, i.e., every president since Kennedy with the exception of Carter. There is very little in that house that you could not find in a typical middle class house of today.

Similarly, you can see in Fort Myers the side-by-side houses of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, two of the richest men of their day. Compare the simplicity with which they vacationed with the our Bankers, Speculators, and "Industrialists" vacation today.
