Davis or Sacramento special birthday lunch

I'm looking for a very nice restaurant to take my son & his girlfriend to lunch for his 24th birthday this Sunday on Halloween. They are PhD students at Davis & don't have the opportunity to eat at nice places. We live in Walnut Creek but never go to Sacramento, so I don't have any idea where to eat. We often eat in Davis & usually end up at Burgers & Brew. We are considering a shopping trip at REI while in Sacramento but may just end up staying in Davis. Would really appreciate suggestions in both cities. Thanks for you help!

Budget and type(s) of food?

Midtown Sacramento is absolutely FULL of terrific places to eat.

I love Tucos in Davis. For Sacramento, I can recommend Tuli Bistro, Grange, Lucca, Morgans at the downtown Sheraton. Finding a place that serves a Sunday lunch (rather than brunch or dinner only) can be difficult, but I THINK (?) these places may be open. The Bistro 33 chain many be open also, 1 in Davis and several in Sac.

We recently ate at Bistro 33 in Davis. They have a large outside patio which would be lovely if the weather is nice on Sunday. Lots of young people as well as older folks. I would eat there again. It might be more relaxing to just stay in Davis.

To see what is opened, you can use OpenTable for Sacramento.

I liked the restaurant on Delta King.
