Dana Point

My sister and I are celebrating her birthday at the Laguna Hills Marriott for a few nights and would love some suggestions on fun, casual restaurants and top things to do.

Thanks!

Drive up PCH for a half hour and have breakfast at The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove. Here is one of our morning's there. Don't forget to order some beignets.

In Laguna Beach for a Mexican inspired but varied menu with wonderful outdoor view seating - Las Brisas. https://www.lasbrisaslagunabeach.com

But there are a lot of nice places in Laguna.

If you are visiting the mission in San Juan Capistrano -- the Tavern at the Mission is right across the street and has a lovely outdoor courtyard.

Sorry but cannot recommend Las Brisas anymore, like many places with a great view, the food is average and overpriced.

In Dana Point, you could try the Chart House for a view restaurant.

Check the Ocean Institute Calendar for events during your stay. Their whale watch boat is especially comfortable but they also have a tall ship which sails on some Saturdays.

Also as you will be in Dana Point (not Laguna Beach) you might think about visiting San Juan Capistrano (not San Clemente) which has the Mission, the Los Rios Historic District, and a rather nice shopping area. Ramos House Cafe near the train station is pleasant but there are also some hole in the wall Mexican spots near the Mission.

Once a favorite of mine to visit, but I concur with the above statement.
