D.C sportsbars and cheap eats

My husband and I will be in DC for a few days at the end of April. We are avid baseball fans and would appreciate any recommendations for good hangouts to watch games. We love good, cheap food and tend to shy away from trendy, fashionable restaurants while on vacation. We can get that anytime by popping over to San Francisco.

Thanks!

AOL City Guide just finished their 2005 Best Bets update. Sports Bars and Cheap Eats are 2 categories included.

I would heartily recommend Five Guys in the Cheap Eats category - their burgers are amazing, and are voted best in the area every year in every local guide. There are many locations.

Five Guys is great. We also like Hard Times, a chili place. RFD's is a great place to watch sports and they have loads of beers -- not as many as the Brickskeller (with the same owner). It is in Chinatown and the MCI center.

I'll second RFD in Chinatown for your needs.

If you want super-cheap try the Tune Inn on Capitol Hill. A great place to hang and watch a game.

It really depends on where you are going to be. Each section of town has a sports bar of some level though some are better than others. But why would you spend time in a bar in late April which probably the prettiest time of year for DC esp if you are in town for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

but here is a short list of places

In Courthouse/Clarendon/Ballston there is Bailey's and Mr. Days.

Dupont has Lucky Bar and Buffalo Billiards

Capital Hill has Red River

Cleveland Park has Park Bench Pub

downtown/Metro Center there is ESPNzone and RFD. Fado is not a sports bar but has decently cheap eats.

Second Five Guys for cheap burgers

Hope this helps.

I second Bailey's in Ballston- it's huge and has tons of tvs, lots of space. Good, cheap food and beer. Close to the metro (orange line).
