Cute New England / Northern Towns

Looking for something like Camden, ME (but maybe not that far North) to try out for a year or so. Something where we could get land (10-40 acres)but that has a nice setting, window shops, B and Bs, educated people, maybe close to a college, not too Republican...
Thanks for any ideas!!

Come to Vermont!!! Welcoming, open-minded; Bennington, Manchester, Shelbourne, so much to choose from!

I agree with Vermont. I lasted there only 6 months and convinced my husband to relocate to Florida but... I think VT fits nicely into your requirements.

Agree on Vermont. Stowe, Norwich ...
I'm a native Northern Californian, but if I could live in two places at one time, Vermont would be the other one.

Thanks so much all! I've only heard good things about VT. Good to hear from someone from CA. My family wants to move also. Part of us are in CA, part in TX.
