I recommend La Teresita. It's on or near Dale Mabry Highway. I just can't remember right now. I do remember it's a mom and pop operation and you will be served authentic Cuban food that's delicious. Large portions, very reasonable prices.

highbay, I'm going to have to take you to lunch in Ybor at one of the places that replaced the Silver Ring. Good rec, but alas a few years late as it's no longer there. But the Tropicana is still doing a booming business, as is Carmine's which has authentic and consistently good food for lunch.
There's an extensive list on chowhound.com, as well as a lot of mentions by disappointed diners who had watery beans and mediocre food. This is a constant complaint of mine as well. La Teresita has a lot of atmosphere, but I suggest that you stick with the specials of the day, or the more traditional entrees such as roast pork, chicken and yellow rice, trout rusa.
There's a place that re-opened in downtown Tampa after a hiatus -- it's called Spain. They serve tapas in the evenings and cafeteria-style cuban in the daytime.
Some of my cuban friends swear by Pipo's, and there are three in Tampa.
For the best Cuban sandwiches, pork sandwiches, and really good soups, I strongly recommend La Ideal on Tampa Bay Boulevard, open only for lunch.
Bon appetit!

Gee, OO, what's not to like about drunken debauchery, grunge rock at mega-decibels, fashion that caters to prostitution, and crowds of people who look like vampires?
Actually, Ybor can be a pleasant place for lunch in the daytime when the business crowds descend.
