The whole city is ethnically diverse and good eats are found almost everywhere.
On the Westside, the area just West of the 405, along Sawtelle Blvd., has enjoyed a wonderful Japanese concentration, with great Japanese food restaurants.
Also, along Westwood Blvd. between Olympic and Wilshire, there's a heavy concentration of Persian and other middle eastern food restaurants.

There is currently a discussion of "ethnic joints" on the LA board at www.chowhound.com

Also Thai Town and Little Armenia which overlap and are in the East Hollywood area and Little Korea South East of the above. Thai Plaza on H-wood Boulvevard near Western has a good restuarant featuring the Thai Elvis. The original Zankou chicken (great rotisserie chicken served with hummous and pita bread) is on Sunset and Normandie in Little Armenia. Beyond casual...East LA has better Mexican food than Olvera street and nearby Monterey Park is better for Chinese food than China town.

Oh, there's Little Ethiopia too. Some very good restaurants there. South of Fairfx near Olympic.
