Crazy VINE bus Napa question
Has anyone tried walking to a winery from any of the VINE bus stops? Would you do it again? We already have hotel reservations in Napa convenient to bus. We are open to anywhere along the VINE busline - from what I understand goes from Vallejo to Santa Rosa. Are we really crazy?

Hello atlantan, living somewhat in the area I have heard of the Vine bus but am not familar with it. In case you do not have it here is their official website:
http://www.nctpa.net/vine.cfm
I would suggest that you contact them and/or your hotel for a good answer to your question. Best regards with wishes that you have a lovely trip.

Yes, you could use the Vine to get upvalley from Napa. The buses run about once an hour. So, if you timed it correctly, you could get up to Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena and Calistoga by public transit. You could even bring bikes along with you. There are several places in Napa that rent them.
If you don't use a bike, you may have to walk a fair distance to visit some of the wineries that are close to the stops. For example, to get to Robert Mondavi or Niebaum-Coppola, you would have to walk or bike about a quarter mile. But, wineries like Opus One and Beaulieu are right next to the bus stops in Oakville and Rutherford.
It would be even easier in St. Helena. There are many tasting rooms, wineries, restaurants, shops, etc. very near the bus stops.
If you manage your time well, this is a feasible alternative to driving.
Check out the bus schedule at the link that LoveItaly posted above and you will see how long it takes to get from Napa to each of the towns.
