Thanks toedtoes, I sort of lost track of all of the information.

Hmmm, I bet the parents really would enjoy having "their girls" for some special time together and than yes kithsu and her husband could do a trip together later. Well I hope somehow this all gets works out to everyones satisfaction.

The real question is if the OP wants to go to Hawaii? Maybe if she figured out what she wants to do then the decision would be easier.

Since the OP has never been to Hawaii, I'm assuming that her husband has not been either. I think it's unfair to the husband to say it's better for him not to go. I wouldn't do it to my husband since going to Hawaii over the holidays isn't like going to Kansas City for a work conference.

Oh, I forgot it's Christmas, or after Christmas but including the new year. Will there only be one bathroom for all to share? I don't see that in her posts, but maybe you all know more about the Westin rooms the sister has booked.

Kithsu said her sister had already gotten a completely separate room for the parents. And the last time she mentioned it, she said her sister was trying to get another room for her. Kithsu hasn't been specific as to the accommodations the sister has made for the rest of them together. Is there 1 bedroom for sister and one for kithsu & dh in the same hotel room or are they talking 2 queen beds? Where will they put the daughter? I wish all the details were together, but kithsu has given us information in bits and pieces.

Mah, it's possible that the husband is just grumbling and doesn't really mean he doesn't want to go to Hawaii - the OP said he wasn't all that excited to go to Hawaii - who knows what that actually means. The OP stated that she has always dreamed of going.

BayouGal - I agree, we've been fed info in pieces so it's hard to know what's really happening there. Hopefully she's able to work things out to everyone's satisfaction.

Okay, here's where we are so far: My sister has gotten one room with her points for all of us to share (her, my husband, my daughter and me). I am uncomfortble with that as there will be two queen beds and one bathroom. I don't mind sharing with my sister, but when you add my husband it's a little uncomfortable. My parents have gotten their own room. I went ahead and booked a room at the Westin as well so that we all would have more space. I agree that I do want to spend the time with my aging parents and if I want to go back with my husband and child we can do that as well some other time (maybe not during high season!) I really do want to go to Hawaii, it has been my dream for the past 15 years. I told my husband when I was turning 40 that I wanted to go, but my daughter was only 2 at that time so here it is 10 years later and I AM going! He is not too excited about flying for that long a time (we live in CT) also, and this is the part that amazes me - he says that once you've seen the postcards of Hawaii why do you need to go there in person?!

My sister just recently went to Denver and stayed at a Starwoods resort there and had a bad experience. She is trying to work out with the GM there an upgrade at the Westin Hawaii - possibly getting a suite with 2 bedrooms. That's where we are so far.

Thank you for all of your help so far!

Good for you, kithsu! I think we've given you all the help we can, the rest seems up to Westin, you & dh, and your sister. I wish you a great time, and I hope you'll come back with a trip report about Maui!

I will definitely come back with a complete run down of the trip. Again, thank you for all of your help. I'll keep you posted on the room situation. But, gosh darn it, life's too short not to enjoy it!

Sounds like things are coming together Kithsu - you've got the third room booked just in case, but your sister may be able to come through with a 2-room suite (sometimes it pays to have a bossy sister ).

As for your husband, wait patiently throughout the trip. At some point he's going to comment on how great Hawaii is or how he really wants to see a particular sight. Then when he irritates you or harasses you about something, you've got payback

Hi kithsu, it sounds like you have everything worked out so that one way or another you will have a fun time!

BTW, some family members went to Maui recently. The wife always wanted to go, her husband was "not thrilled" about the idea. Now he is the one that is really counting the days until they return to Maui, lol. I bet your husband will be the same way!!

That's what I'm hoping! He never seems to want to do anything, but when he does he is really happy that he did. Go figure!
