Bridge Day

We are considering going to Bridge Day this year. It is the weekend of October 16. Has anyone out there been? Is it as whacky as we have been led to believe?

Just out of curiosity, what is Bridge Day and where is it located?

It's the day that the New River Bridge, near Summersville WV is closed to traffic. For that day, they allow bungee and parachute jumping off the bridge. There is a big street festival that goes with it. I want to know if it is worth a 3 hour drive to visit

Bridge Day? Wow. Sounds like a magnet for Darwin Award wannabees.

But seriously, Carla, try reposting your question with Summersville WV in the title and you'll probably get more replies.

Do you go to jump or watch?

I thought it was a special Wednesday celebration.

Or that wacky road race in San Francisco.

My parents used to have Bridge Night, with other couples coming over for drinks and cards. I remember the laughter, the indecipherable bridge language, dozens of cigarettes smoked, my mom decked out in cocktail dress, heels and Chanel No. 5....

Oh wait. Bridge DAY. I thought it had something to do with the city of Bridgeville, PA. My bad....

I'm only looking for real information. People who live near West Virginia might know about Bridge Day.

Then it bears repeating: If you repost your message with Summersville WV in the title you'll probably get more real information.

rjw_lgb_ca,

I was born in Bridgeville, PA. What ever makes you mention it here?
