Conan and Letterman...

I will be in NY in about a month. I called the NDC studio today to get Conan Tickets, but the office was closed. However, the voice mail said that tickets were only available for AFTER June 23rd! Is there still a possibilty that there will be a few seats available for next month?
Also, have many people here ever attended a Conan/Letterman taping and a Broadway show in the same night? We want to see Conan and then run over to Hairspray. Will we have time? If it comes down to it, can we just leave the studio if we have to? Also, on the same note, will there be time to attend Letterman, then go to the TKTS booth and THEN make it to a theatre?

Thanks SO much,
Ian

PS - Is Forbidden Broadway entertaining even if you are not a Broadway buff?

Odds are not good especially for the Late Show which usually requires over a year to get tickets. At the very least, you can go get coffee from Ruben at the Hello Deli and buy something for your friends from Mujiber & Sirajul.

Mujibur and Sirajul have shut down that store.

And it's Rupert at the Hello Deli, not Rueben (although he might serve a Rueben)

Go to the CBS website and click on the link for The Late Show with David Letterman. You can sign up for standby tickets for the date you will be in town. I have done this several times and have always gotten tickets.

To answer a couple of your questions:
1. If you are lucky enough to get tickets for a taping, I don't think you'll be able to leave once the taping has started.
2. If you're not a regular theatergoer and knowledgeable about Broadway, you probably wouldn't find Forbidden Broadway that enjoyable.

We did exactly what you have in mind on Labor Day 2001. I had signed up for last-minute Letterman tickets through the CBS website, and was called about them 4 or 5 days prior. I just had to answer a silly question about the show. We were out of the taping in just enough time to walk (10 blocks) to the Phantom of the Opera theatre and buy tickets using the *coupon* we had picked up earlier from the Times Square Visitor Center. I would like to add, though, that going to Letterman DOES require your entire afternoon. They make you wait quite a long time just to get your ticket, then you are sent away for an hour, only to come back and wait some more. I actually remarked to my husband that I thought Dave concocted this ridiculous scheme himself, just to see how much his fans would tolerate. But seeing Dave and the set was worth the wait!

Thanks, guys!

I signed up for Letterman tickets about 2 months ago, so I'm hoping I get called. However, I read it is possible to get black listed. Is this true, about 9 monthes ago, we planned a trip to NY and then ended up not being able to go. So, we didn't take the tickets when they called. Does this mean we won't be called again?
Also, we didn't get Conan tickets. What does doing standby for Conan entail? What time should we get there and will it take up most of our day? We'll only be there for 3 days, so we don't want to spend loads of our time waiting around.

OK, I just got Letterman tickets. They just called and I had to answer a trivia question. Now, for any of you who watch the show, will he be back from his eye operation by then? Would they give out tickets even if he didn't intend on being by then?

I heard that they are doing reruns this week, and that Dave is supposed to be back next week.

I went to a taping about 6 years ago. It was great. Definitely go to the Hello Deli-Rupert is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. All I bought was a cup of coffee and he still provided me with a photo op.

Have fun on your trip, and hope you get to see Dave.
